A Star Spangled Birthday!

Hello friends!  I am so excited to be joining you today via the Whimsy & Stars Studio Blog!  Mabelle was gracious enough to allow me to pick today for my post!  Why? Because it's time to CELEBRATE!

For those of you in the USA - Happy Independence Day and for my sweet friend Kelsi - Happy Birthday!  Can you imagine a birthday on the 4th of July?  I mean it's like the whole country is celebrating!  Today I created the perfect birthday day card for this sweet girl using the precious Happy Birthday Stamp Set!  Take a look. . .

I just LOVE the combo of red, white and blue, and not just on Independence Day.  My husband and I are both in politics and my DD's school colors are red, white and blue - so we come by it "naturally"!

I stamped Happy Birthday girl in Memento Tuxedo Black in and then colored her with Copic markers.  It seems my shading is getting better, but I think if I practiced it all day - every day, it would never be perfect. . .sigh.  Oh well, at least I am trying!  And that's what the American spirit is all about, right?

The pattern paper which, in my humble but accurate opinion is too yummy for words, is from Doodlebug Design's Stars & Strips Collection.  I love it so much, I used it on another card for July!

What birthday girl would complete without a glittery cupcake?  Here's a close up. . .
Doesn't it look so good you just want to take a bite?  I used the Crystal Snow in White Ultra Fine from Stampendous!

And, finally I created my own sentiment. . .

I think Kelsi will LOVE it!  And, if you think of her, lite a sparkler or two!

HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY TO THE USA!
